Frequently asked questions

How much does a concrete driveway cost in Savannah?

National figures published by HomeGuide for 2026 put a concrete driveway at $6 to $15 per square foot, or $2,400 to $8,600 for a two-car driveway. Those are not our quotes. Tear-out, fill on low ground, tree roots and truck access change the price here. Our concrete cost guide has the details.

Do I need a permit for a driveway in Savannah?

Yes, for the part that meets the street. The City of Savannah has a driveway permit application, handled by Traffic Engineering, for building or changing a driveway connection. Outside the city limits, Chatham County or your town's office applies. We check for your address.

Why do driveways crack and sink in Savannah?

Mostly because of what is under them. Sandy soil washes out, low wet ground settles and live oak roots push slabs up. Frost is almost never the cause here. A compacted base, steel and good drainage prevent most of it.

How long before I can use new concrete?

You can walk on it after about 24 to 48 hours and park a car on it after about 7 days. Keep heavy trucks and trailers off for about 28 days.

Does salt air affect concrete near the coast?

Over time, yes. Salt reaches the steel inside a slab and rusts it. On the islands and along the marsh we use a dense mix and keep the steel well covered by concrete.

Who contacts Georgia 811 before digging?

Whoever does the digging. On our jobs we place the request. Georgia 811 asks for at least three business days of notice, and the service is free. Private lines such as sprinklers are not marked, so tell us about them.

Do you remove the old concrete?

Yes. Tear-out and haul-away are part of our quote when a replacement is needed.

Can cracked concrete be repaired?

Small cracks and surface damage can often be repaired or resurfaced. Slabs that have sunk or broken up usually need to be replaced. We tell you which applies.

Do I need a permit for concrete work in Savannah?

Driveway approaches, sidewalks and structural slabs often need a permit. We check the rules for your address.
