Plain concrete flatwork runs about $6 to $12 per square foot installed across the country in 2026. We do not post a Savannah price list. A lot near the marsh, a rear lane too tight for a mixer truck or a live oak beside the driveway can each move a price more than the concrete does.
The price ranges on this page are national figures that HomeGuide published for 2026. They are not quotes from The Savannah Concrete Company. Labor rates, material prices, truck access and the ground on your lot all change the real number. Last checked October 2026.
How much does a concrete driveway cost?
The national range for a concrete driveway is $6 to $15 per square foot, or $2,400 to $8,600 for a two-car driveway. Plain broom-finished concrete falls at $6 to $10 per square foot and basic decorative work at $10 to $15. Around Savannah the things that push a driveway up are tear-out of the old slab, bringing in fill on low ground and working around tree roots.
| Driveway | National installed cost (HomeGuide, 2026) |
|---|---|
| 20x20, 400 sq ft | $2,400 to $6,000 |
| 24x24, 576 sq ft | $3,500 to $8,600 |
| Plain concrete, per sq ft | $6 to $10 |
| Basic decorative, per sq ft | $10 to $15 |
How much does concrete cost per square foot?
A concrete slab costs $6 to $12 per square foot installed, by the national figures. A 4 inch slab is listed at $6 to $8 per square foot and a 6 inch slab at $8 to $10. Small pours cost more per square foot than large ones, because the truck, the crew and the setup cost about the same either way.
How much does a concrete patio cost? What is a fair price for a 20x20?
A plain concrete patio costs $4 to $12 per square foot nationally, and a stained or stamped patio $8 to $30. For a 20x20 patio the published range is $1,600 to $4,800 plain and $3,200 to $12,000 stained or stamped. A 12x12 plain patio is $600 to $1,700. A quote inside those ranges is not automatically fair and one outside them is not automatically wrong. What matters is what the quote includes.
How much does it cost to pour a slab for a 24x24 garage or a 30x40 shop?
HomeGuide lists a 20x20 slab at $2,400 to $4,800 and a 30x30 slab at $5,400 to $10,800. It does not publish a row for 24x24 or 30x40, so the following is our arithmetic from its $6 to $12 per square foot figure, not a published price: a 24x24 slab is 576 square feet, or about $3,460 to $6,900, and a 30x40 slab is 1,200 square feet, or about $7,200 to $14,400. A garage or shop slab that carries walls also needs footings, a permit and inspections, which are extra.
How much is concrete per cubic yard?
Ready-mix concrete costs $119 to $147 per cubic yard nationally, including delivery within 20 miles. That is the material only. One cubic yard covers about 80 square feet at 4 inches thick. Short loads usually carry an extra fee from the plant, which is one reason a very small pour looks expensive per square foot.
How much does it cost to remove and replace an old driveway, with the old concrete hauled away?
Add the removal figure to the new driveway figure. Concrete removal costs $3 to $8 per square foot nationally with disposal included, or $1,200 to $4,500 for a driveway. The new driveway is then $6 to $15 per square foot on top of that. Thick slabs, slabs full of steel and yards where the broken concrete has to be carried out by hand cost more to remove. Our quotes show tear-out and the cost of having it hauled away as a separate line.
How much more does stamped concrete cost than plain, and what is the extra for color or stain?
Stamped concrete cost is $8 to $19 per square foot nationally, compared with $6 to $12 for a plain slab. Published examples are $3,200 to $7,600 for a 20x20 stamped patio, $6,900 to $10,400 for a two-car stamped driveway and $800 to $1,700 for a 4x20 stamped walkway. We have no published figure for color or stain alone, so we give no number for it here. It depends on whether the color goes through the whole mix or only on the surface, and we price it at the visit.
How much does a concrete retaining wall cost?
Concrete retaining wall cost averages $3,000 to $10,000 nationally, or $45 to $270 per linear foot, or $15 to $45 per square foot of wall face. Height is the main driver. Walls around Savannah are usually low, since the land is flat, but soft wet soil can call for a wider footing and more drainage than the height alone suggests.
How much does a concrete walkway cost?
Concrete walkway cost is $7 to $17 per square foot installed, by the national figures. A walk 4 feet wide works out to $28 to $68 per linear foot, and the average job is $1,400 to $3,400. Curves, steps and walks that have to be wheeled in through a gate take more labor.
What does a parking pad or sidewalk cost for a small business?
We have no published figure for commercial parking lots, so we price a small business pad or lot after seeing it. As a starting point, the national slab figure of $6 to $12 per square foot and the sidewalk figure of $7 to $17 per square foot apply to light-duty work. A pad that takes loaded trucks needs thicker concrete and more steel, and work at the street needs a permit. Wheelchair ramps have no published figure either.
I have three quotes for the same patio and they are far apart. Which do I trust?
Trust the one that tells you exactly what you get. When quotes are far apart, the contractors are almost never pricing the same job. Put the three side by side and compare slab thickness, the depth and type of base, the steel, the concrete strength, the joints, tear-out and haul-off, and who pays for a permit. Ask the low bidder what is left out and the high bidder what is added. A one-line quote with a single total cannot be compared with anything.
The contractor wants extra for a gravel base after the old slab came out. Is that fair?
It can be fair, if the quote said so beforehand. No one can see what is under a slab until it is broken out. Around Savannah we sometimes find loose sand that has washed out, buried roots or wet organic soil that has to be dug out and replaced. A good quote names a price for extra base or fill before the job starts, so a charge like this is not a surprise. If your quote said the base was included, ask why they now want extra for the gravel base and ask to see the ground before you agree.
How do I know if a concrete quote is fair?
A quote is fair when it is complete, written and in line with other complete quotes. Check that it states the square footage, thickness, base, reinforcement, concrete strength, finish, joints, removal, cleanup, permit, payment schedule and start date. Then compare it with the national ranges above and with at least one other written quote for the same scope.
